THE BIBLE IN EDUCATION

The future of christian based education

Kindness Foundation representatives recently returned from Ukraine where they co-hosted an international conference on the future of Christian-based education in the Ukraine with the Ukrainian Department of Education and Academy of Education. The conference was held amidst major political and economic turmoil. Despite all this, education representatives from almost all regions of Ukraine attended.

The conference was also an opportunity for all CERC (Christian Education Resource Center) directors to participate in planning sessions where they were able to give reports on their activities and express their needs. The directors reported that Christian morals and ethics are in high demand with students and parents. This poses a greater need for more teacher training and the continuing provision of Christian education programs.  However, the overwhelming theme of each report given by the CERC directors and the representatives from the Department of Education was the need for more contributions. There is no greater gift we could make to tomorrow’s society than giving the Bible to students today.

To date, we are praying for 6,000 to 7,000 Bibles for the education system in Russia and Ukraine. We are asking for your prayers and financial support to help us reach this goal. Every dollar helps buy one more Bible for a student to study from and keep for a lifetime. The conference was immensely successful. High-level government officials addressed the subject of Christian-based education and a resolution was reached to continue using Christian morals and ethics as the basis for teaching culture and tolerance, and implementing innovative teaching practices.

THE TRANSFORMATION OF RUSSIA

Ask about our video 'Miracle in Russia' detailing the transformation of the people of Russia by the Word of God.

It was not long ago when Communism soaked the land of Russia with blood and destroyed churches in its quest to bring happiness to mankind. Now the Russian Orthodox Church is strong and getting stronger thanks to men in government like President Vladimir Putin.

Devout Russian Christians are on the march to conquer the world. Not like the Communist Soviet Union. These Russians are like Disciples of Christ who lovingly reach out to their brothers and sisters. Helping men and women in darkness enslaved by a materialistic society who are truly in need of Christ. Look to the East.

Reagan called the Soviet Union the evil empire and rightly so. "The Soviet Union was the Russian people held hostage by the Communists"- Alexander Solzhenitsyn. Solzhenitsyn wrote about those evils in many of his books, which Reagan was well aware of. On May 30, 1988 in Moscow, President Ronald Reagan was at the Danilov Monastery.

He said, "There is a beautiful passage that I'd just like to read, if I may. It's from one of this country's great writers and believers, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, about the faith that is as elemental to this land as the dark and fertile soil. He wrote:

"When you travel the byroads of central Russia, you begin to understand the secret of the pacifying Russian countryside. It is in the churches. They lift their bell-towers-graceful, shapely, all different-high over mundane timber and thatch. From villages that are cut off and invisible to each other, they soar to the same heaven.... The evening chimes used to ring out, floating over the villages, fields, and woods, reminding men that they must abandon trivial concerns of this world and give time and thought to eternity."

Putin and Reagan listened to Alexander Solzhenitsyn. Those who listen to their elders tend to be wiser. Vladimir Putin allows Christianity in Russia.

A CALL TO TEACH BIBLICAL MORALITY

When studying the founding of the United States, you can’t help but encounter the faith of the nation’s forefathers. Time and again they recognized God’s hand in the shaping of America. You will find references to God throughout the founding documents and Christian faith having an active, vibrant role in the country’s early history.

In accord with what was so accurately stated by George Washington, we believe that "the propitious [favorable] smiles of heaven can never be expected on a nation which disregards the eternal rules of order and right which heaven itself has ordained." From Wall Builders (an excellent resource for historical founding documents). http://www.wallbuilders.com/ABTOverview.asp

Now, as we see God systematically removed from our public square, our freedoms are also diminishing and we are becoming weaker.

It’s ironic that when Russia wanted to build a strong nation after the fall of Communism in 1991, they looked to the United States and determined that it was our faith and Biblical morals that made us strong. Because they have now required the teaching of Biblical morals in their public schools for over 25 years, using Bibles funded through your donations to the Kindness Foundation, they are growing a stronger, more moral society.

The foundational principles for morals, values, family, culture and society are all found in the Bible.

The Kindness Foundation recognizes that our country is thirsting for a return to our Christian roots. Our founding fathers recognized that without Christian faith, democracy could never survive. The building of a strong nation begins with teaching Biblical principles in our schools. There is so much misinformation being perpetuated that many school administrators and teachers are not aware that the Bible can be taught in classrooms in the United States, just like it is taught in Russian schools. In addition to supporting our missions abroad, we also ask you to join us as we advocate for the teaching of Biblical morals and principles in our schools so that our freedoms will be preserved by the divine providence of God.

It is, indeed, the battle for the soul of our nation and it is a battle that we must win.
